Ancillae Assumpta Academy, Jenkintown, Montgomery County, PA

Project Manager for a one story vertical expansion of an existing foot print consisting of library and classroom. The challenge presented with the project was to determine a way to execute the work without disrupting the existing class schedule. The solution was to add new columns and clear span the width with new long span joists added at the new roof level. O’Donnell and Nacarrato (June 2007-December 2007)

SUNY CORT LAND, HEALTH PLEX

Structural design of a two story, 250,000 square foot addition to the existing student union center. (2011-2013)

 

PARKING GARAGES

 

Scranton Parking Garage, Scranton, PA

Structural design of an eight story, 450 parking space garage. The structural system consists of steel columns and beams supporting post-tensioned concrete floor slabs on a reinforced concrete mat foundation. The superstructure is braced by steel diagonal braces and the sloped ramping floor system. **work completed under Pennani Associates (2001-2001)

 

New Jersey State Parking Garage, Trenton, New Jersey

Project engineer for the design of a conventionally reinforced concrete parking garage that used an (IMRSF) Intermediate Concrete Moment Space Frame, for lateral force resistance. The structure had two orthogonal expansion joints that were designed using the IBC RSS method. The structure used a shallow foundation system utilizing special detailing requirements for intermediate moment frames. **work completed under Cagley and Harman (June 1993-March 1995).

 

Show Boat Casino Employee Parking Garage, Atlantic City, New Jersey

Project manager for a one story parking garage using a one way post tensioned concrete slab, with lateral load resistance provided by a concrete moment frame. The structure was founded on a spread footing system. **work completed under Elton Engrs (January 1998-June 1998).

 

Intermodal Parking Garage Scranton, Pennsylvania

The project consisted of a four levels of parking consisting of a   post tensioned concrete slab supported on composite steel framing. Lateral force resistance was provided by steel braced frame. Due to weak sub strata a concrete mat foundation was used to support the building with a sub terrain draining field. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (January 2003-April 2004)

 

10th and Ludlow Garage, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Structural rehabilitation of this existing over 30 year old ten story garage  structure that included crack vertical, horizontal and overhead concrete crack repair using different injection and patching techniques. Resurfacing of wearing surface using chain drag method and other sounding techniques for void detection was also part of the scope. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (January 2002-December 2003)

 

Reading Medical Center Parking Garage, Reading Pennsylvania

Structural Rehabilitation that included crack repair and strengthening of existing concrete framing using CFRP and conventional and synthetic reinforcing rods. Connection evaluation was done using non destructive techniques based AWS1.1 requirements using magnetic particle and ultra sound testing. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (December 2000-May 2001)

 

Fair Fax County parking garage, Fair fax Virginia

Design of this four story parking garage using a one way post tensioned concrete slab concrete columns and spread footings foundation system. The garage was designed as open garage with strip openings. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (December 1999-December 2000)

 

RESIDENTIAL & HOUSING

 

Dockside Residences, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA

Structural lead for a 17 story concrete structure consisting of 3 levels of parking with 14 levels of residential floors above. A post tensioned flat plate construction makes up the floor slab system. The structure is founded on deep foundations.  Lateral load resistance is provided by a combined concrete shear walls and a concrete moment frame. The building sits atop of an existing pier that was used as work platform during construction. The pile caps that sit over the pier slab are supported on steel H piles driven into the Delaware River. Special consideration was given to pile treatment at the splash zone. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (December 2000-January 2002)

Christina Landing Condominiums, Wilmington, New Castle County, DE

Project Manager for a 26 story concrete structure located on the banks of the Christina River and part of the river bank re-vitalization project. The floor construction consists of a post tensioned concrete flat plate with lateral resistance provided by a concrete moment frame and shear wall interaction. The building uses a deep foundation system consisting of steel H piles and pile caps. **work completed under O’Donnell & Nacarrato (January 2005-December 2006)

Waikiki Landmark Condominiums, Honolulu Hawaii

 Project engineer for the design of deep foundation system i.e. steel piles and concrete pile caps, transfer girders and flat plate post tensioned floor system for a 27 story concrete structure. The structure was founded on coral strata in the Waikiki area of downtown Honolulu. **work completed under Martin and Bravo (June 2006-June 2007)

 

Huntingdon Condominium Parking Garage and podium slab:  Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania

 Project manager for the design of a one story parking cast in place parking garage structure designed to support a 4 story condominium of timber construction.  The floor construction was a 13” thick post tensioned concrete flat plate. The building used a concrete moment frame for lateral resistance support by concrete pile caps on steel H piles.**work completed under O’Donnell & Nacarrato (June 2006-June 2007)

 

MEDICAL & PHARMACEUTICAL

 

Episcopal Hospital Power Plant Upgrade; Philadelphia, PA

Structural design of repairs and modifications to existing facilities buildings and utility tunnel. Work to the utility tunnel included concrete, masonry and steel repairs and installation of a waterproofing system. **work completed under O’Donnell & Nacarrato

NOVA Care/Philadelphia Eagles Training Facility; Philadelphia, PA

Structural design of 110,000-square foot multi-purpose building.  The design includes a composite steel frame supported on a grade beam and pile foundation system and the foundation for the indoor practice facility. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (2001-2003)

Philadelphia Spectrum, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA

Project engineer involved with the design of 2nd floor concourse level and the ice rink of this Philadelphia landmark. The ice rink slab was supported on pile field and was designed to a high tolerance for floor flatness and levelness criteria. **work completed under Bevnard Schwartz (June 1998-September 1998)

 

LIBRARIES & GOVERNMENT FACILITIES

 

Kadena Air Cargo Facility; Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan

Structural design of an 18,500 SF concrete encased steel frame cargo handling facility. The design included cast-in-place concrete roof and wall systems, concrete slab and grade beam support for an automated retrieval system and deep foundations for the entire structure. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (2002-2003)

Building 481, Lakehurst Naval Air Station; Lakehurst, New Jersey

Prepared a report detailing the structural effects of an improvised explosive device on the existing building. Report included analysis of existing structure and proposed reinforcement schemes. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (2002-2003)

 

Hangar #1 Fire Inspection, Lakehurst Naval Air Station; Lakehurst, New Jersey

Supervised material inspection and visual survey of fire damaged roof structure of Hangar #1.  Recommended repairs enabling contractor to finish roof project. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (2002-2003)

 

Building 481, Lakehurst Naval Air Station; Lakehurst, New Jersey

Completed structural design for an entrance canopy at Building 481, as well as the structural design for window replacements. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (2002-2003)

 

Manayunk Canal Improvements; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Conducted site survey of the existing embankment adjacent to commercial railroad tracks. Designed steel soldier piles and timber lagging to stabilize deterioration of embankment, restoration timber boardwalks and stone masonry wall restoration. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (2001-2003)

 

HOTEL & RECREATIONAL

 

Bolero Hotel; Wildwood, NJ

Structural design of a seven story 70,000 square foot precast concrete plank and concrete masonry bearing walls. Design included a supported pool located on the fifth floor. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (2001-2003)

 

U.S.S. New Jersey Battleship Memorial; Camden, New Jersey

Structural design of two steel towers used for access to the battleship.  Design included wind moment frames and composite steel floor framing. O’Donnell & Nacarrato. **work completed under Pennoni Associates (2001-2003)

Harrah’s Casino, Chester, Delaware County, PA

Project Manager for the Casino building located at the old sun ship building site in Chester, PA on the banks of the Delaware River. The structure incorporates the existing ship yard structure framed by new infill steel framing adjoined by new construction. A flexible wind moment steel frame is used as a lateral force resisting system. The building uses a deep foundation system, a combination of steel and timber piles.  **work completed under O’Donnell & Nacarrato (June 2004-December 2007)

Airport Marriott, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA

Project Manager for a 9 story concrete frame with a post tensioned flat plate and one way slab construction. The building uses a deep foundation system consisting of pile caps and grade beams supported on Steel H piles. **work completed under Cagley & Harman (June 1993-December 1994)

Caesars Casino, Atlantic City, Atlantic County, NJ

Structural Task Manager for this 8 story concrete frame consisting of post tensioned concrete floors with lateral load resistance provided by shear walls. The building sits over a 5 feet deep concrete mat slab,**work completed under Elton Engrs. (June 1990-June 1992)

 

RETAIL, COMMERCIAL & OFFICE

 

Harrisonburg Warehouses, Brewind Property Group, Harrisonburg VA

Structural design of two flex-use warehouse with a total of 110,000 square feet.  The structural system included structural steel supported on perimeter reinforced concrete tilt-wall bearing walls. The property abutted to an existing warehouse facility with an expansion joint that was designed to keep the two facilities separate under lateral loading. **work completed under CMX INC. (2008-2009)

 

AVIATION AND AIRPORTS

 

Terminal D & E Expansion Project, Philadelphia Airport, Philadelphia County, PA

Project Manager for the terminal expansion located between terminal D and E at the Philadelphia Airport. The existing buildings are connected by a precast concrete bridge link. The challenge presented to the design team was to incorporate the existing bridge link into the new construction while keep the link functional. The solution was to span across the link with steel trusses that became part of the new floor. The new building houses a smart baggage handling facility on the first floor with ticketing, office space and retail on second and third floors respectively. The fourth floor is a mechanical space supported of the bottom chord of a high truss. Lateral force resistance is provided by a flexible wind moment steel frame in conjunction with masonry shear walls. The foundation system comprises of deep foundation with concrete pile caps supported on steel H piles. **work completed under O’Donnell and Nacarrato. (January 2005-June 2007)
